Eastwood is a very unique suburb because it is divided into two sides with Korean on the North and Chinese on the South. Being Chinese, we are not really missing the Chinese food in Australia so we went for probably the best Korean restaurant recommended on Zomato, called Jonga Jip

Let's jump in right away by saying that their starters are amazing with a very wide variety. A total of 11 different small dishes are brought to us right after we made our order and they are all refillable.

With 11 different small starters, my favourite still goes to the good old classic kimchi. It has a perfectly spicy, sweet and sour taste. Just a great clever thing to enjoy with literally any dish.

Their candied yam and fish cake slices are also delicious if you are not too into spicy food. Each starter has its unique taste to get you excited for the meal. We actually got a bit full already before our dishes came.

We have only ordered two dishes as they are surprisingly big in portion and carb heavy. I must also mention that their service is wicket fast.

Kimchi pancake $15

The whole pancake is cut in front of us upon serving. I love the consistency which is somewhere between chewy and crispy on the edges, and you won't feel that it is too dough-ie nor oily. The kimchi taste is definitely there but it's not too spicy that you can't eat. It's even better to enjoy them with some crunchy spicy chili that we have got from the starters!

Mandu Tokbokki Soup $15

We wanted something piping hot but not spicy. This is one of the plainer option on the menu with just rice cake and Korean dumplings in clear soup. The still bubbling pot is filled with a generous amount of thin rice cake slices and three pieces of authentic big round dumplings. It is good and super filling so I would probably order something else next time.

p.s. there are 2 Jonga Jip branches pretty close to each other with one being cozier and another one being brighter and more spacious. They are super busy so you may want to make a reservation
